Oil painting
Technically virtuosic, with a large dose of childlike joy and a hidden layer of thought-provoking psychologizing.
This is how Caroline af Ugglas' art is described. When af Ugglas herself describes her art, she mentions that as a young woman she coined her own ism – anti-depressivism. There should be a kind of poetry in the image. It should look happy and wonderful, nice to look at, but with a downside. Af Ugglas has been painting alongside her musical career since she was 20. Today, she is one of Sweden's most popular artists and performers.
The clown nose is a central and recurring element in Caroline af Uggla's art. How you as a viewer choose to react to the clown nose is up to you, but regardless of how you view it, the red nose contributes to a psychological layer in her painting. A kind of exclamation mark. This oil painting features both the red nose and the horse. The message that af Ugglas has chosen to convey is "because horses give their all."
The money will be donated to the Life After Racing Foundation.
