About the horse

El Sacrificio has been diagnosed with a left front fetlock injury and will therefore be withdrawn from the auction. The injury is considered minor, and the recommended recovery time is 5–6 weeks. A three-year-old still developing!

El Sacrificio has had a somewhat inconsistent debut season, but showed early promise by qualifying as a two-year-old and making his debut as early as February of this year.

El Sacrificio has made only a handful of starts and shown a lack of experience, but also some potential. He clocked 1:17.9 over the full distance this summer, but has raced sporadically.
Peter Eriksson: “A big, sturdy horse who has been a bit slow to respond but is very gentle and pleasant. I hope and believe there is still room for development.”
El Sacrificio’s dam, Orizaba, was a speedster who clocked 1:10.9, and the maternal line is the same as that of Hula Lobell, the dam of Waikiki Beach, who sired the world’s most successful trotter of all time: Varenne.
